- My message to Biden aides: shut up already. Some of you never liked her to begin with & somehow held it against her for calling out Biden's praising segregationists instead of recognizing she made him a better candidate. Don't make up lies about her not being nice. She's incredibly nice.
- Obviously there are exceptions (see, e.g., right-wing media-obsessed Bishop Robert Barron, who is also from Chicago), but Midwest Catholics are often more low-key, more pragmatic, more practical, than some other Catholics. & Pope Leo XIV seems to fit the mold of us Midwest Catholics.
- I cannot express enough how important it is & what a signal it is that Pope Leo, as a Cardinal, retweeted an article from the liberal @ncronline.bsky.social! I went to grad school at Illinois in the then extremely right-wing Peoria Diocese & many parishes wouldn't have NCR in their newsstands.
- Pope Leo's Wikipedia page says he encouraged Pope Francis to ask for right-wing American Bishop Strickland's resignation. If so, that's very good news! That takes you to this link & it sounds like he also played a role in another right-wing intemperate American Bishop, Stika, being removed too.
