Most tone-deaf bit of the interview (hard to choose) is when Biden marvels that Dems couldn't "advertise" his accomplishments effectively.
Imagine a younger Biden who, like Trump, held near daily-press conferences, getting hours of earned media, talking his agenda. Would have helped, right?
I’m not surprised Kamala Harris lost to Trump, citing Joe Biden’s completely idiotic decision to run for a second term and to not take a tougher line toward Benjamin Netanyahu
May 9, 2025 15:00I seem to recall Obama having had a terrible time selling his administration's accomplishments. The difference between Biden and Trump isn't that Trump is constantly on TV talking about his accomplishments, it is that every single repub is on tv constantly selling his "accomplishments" & greatness.
It's infuriating that although Biden's policies brought us back from the brink of disaster, a chunk of Dem voters were easily convinced that he's just some daft old coot, unworthy of respect. How could ANYONE feel better or safer with Orange Boy, even before the current lunacies commenced?
One glimmer of hope is perhaps Biden’s age-related failures and Trump rapid unplanned descent into senility, will force the electorate to confront how terrible the gerontocracy is for the country.
You also have to imagine a media as deferential to Biden as the are to Trump.
Every Biden sniffle got a week of negative coverage.
Trump's ramblings and idiocy gets sane washed by a willing press.
All of this also assumes that Trump's "earned media" is helping him. Have you seen his approval ratings?
Yes, it would have helped.
Maybe not as much as we think? It’s clear the DC press corps would not have bent over to be deferential to Biden as they do with Trump.
Trump tells demonstrable lies to them everyday and they lap them up w/o challenge. Biden stumbles on a word and all hell breaks loose.
