I must admit that I'm a little surprised by all the monarchists in my mentions insisting that Carney is really showing some backbone to Trump or some such nonsense by inviting a petulant nepobaby to open parliament. On Twitter sure, but I thought bsky was less stupid.

Yeah, I mean it's awfully clear that having an Indigenous woman open would *actually* be the way to show backbone and reflect a difference in values. This really seems like signaling "we're not that different".
