    Canada's speech from the throne is normally delivered by the Governor General, and right now the GG is Mary Simon. An Inuk woman. So Carney's choice here to reach past an Inuk woman to invite the leader of a decaying monarchy is an interesting, and very backwards looking, choice.

  Nope. You got it all wrong. Carney knows we are at war with the USA. The King's visit sends a powerful message to the USA and the world. Besides, the GG is fine with it.
