I've always thought admitting to not knowing something and asking about it is a surefire indicator of intelligence. (Except when writers on here marvel over learning a new word. I hate that.)
I'm curious as to why that's your sticking point.
It's just always disappointing to read something like "I just learned the word cacophony!" Do you not read?
Oh, so common words. Got it. 'Cause my friends and I often geek out about rare words we've just learned.
I guess the definition of rare varies dramatically.
