We have NYT/MSNBC libs and Fox News conservatives but low-propensity non-college voters might just be anti-incumbent now due to the ruthless negativity bias of algo-driven media.
Negativity bias means that bad news spreads and gets recommended more. Meaning that incumbency effects might actually be negative for the president now? Regardless recommendation divorced from social graph has probably made the thermostat much more sensitive.
