Oat milk good, Coldplay bad
- MP to launch bill to target superyachts, private jets and fossil fuel producers
- Richard Burgon is one of the last bright spots in the government, whip removed for opposing the 2 child benefit cap. Started his MP's oath to the queen by basically saying "I don't mean any of this and I will remain a Republican" If Labour had balls they'd tear Keith down and tap him in
- Bosses of hospitals that spend too much or treat too few will not get pay rise
- During the last government Labour kept saying the NHS was overspending because the budget was too low. So now that they're killing the overspend, they're effectively cutting the budget without it technically being a "cut". "Red Tories" used to mean slightly right-leaning Labour, now it's literal
- It's really important we understand the experiences trans and non-binary people are having when trying to use single-sex spaces after the Supreme Court judgment. That’s why we’d encourage you to use this tracker, set up by our friends at @transactualuk.bsky.social: transactual.org.uk/equality-act...
- I wonder how much this correlates with disabled toilet policing. I know one specific bathroom space in England that has questioned several trans people and its the same one who told me "next time bring a doctor's note" when trying to use the disabled
- To be clear, I'm not downplaying trans people's experiences at all, I feel no fear or physical risk using my bathroom and I know that's sadly not the case for many trans people. I'm just curious if it's the same reprobates responsible
- No evidence of genocide in Gaza, UK lawyers say in arms export case
- This government is not making tough choices, they're not making the best of a bad deal, they're just outright doing evil for profit. That second paragraph is absolutely fucking sickening, somehow moreso than the first.
- That second paragraph doesn't just say "we support this genocide", it says "we support all genocide and we will continue to do so so long as it profits us" We're going to be doomed to a future of Reform because the two traditional parties have betrayed their own voters so much
- University of Greater Manchester suspends vice-chancellor amid investigation
- Every single university VP should be under investigation for this. I remember being at DMU, chatting with Dom Shellard who told me that offering government funded childcare to mature students was too expensive relevant to the extra accessibility it offers. He was clear of £350k a year at the time
- Germany bans extremist movement and arrests self-declared 'king' Peter
- ...they must have looked "across the pond" and thought "let's get ahead of this"...
- Are you sure there's nothing in Germany's own history that they might be using as their motivation here?
- I was secretary of labor. Trump’s bizarre tariff scheme won’t revive American jobs | Robert Reich
- The current US fed admin (trump, musk, etc) make lots more sense if you assume every intention that they publicly state is just BS they're using as a smokescreen for their actual intentions.
- There is definitely an element of this, but there's also another level of him actually thinking this will work. He's so far removed from the concept of labour that he can't conceive of any blue collar jobs that aren't manufacturing
- This was true in the NINETIES. -- gen exer
- Probably true, but I'd argue that the betrayal feels greater with 100 grand of debt at 13% APR
