I watched the new GTA VI trailer. I don’t understand why the franchise is so popular. It looks like a simulator for violence and excessive gambling and alcohol. It makes me uncomfortable seeing anti-social behaviors.
May 6, 2025 17:14I realize many scientific studies show video games don’t cause violence, but the problem I have is the perception. In 2025, a certain population, though shrinking, still consistently believe video games cause violence.
I want to end that perception. I’m tired of it.
Many people get swayed not by evidence, but by emotion. If we want to break the perception that video games don’t cause violence, maybe we should promote other games instead?
Seeing GTA and its popularity makes me unhappy, so this is my attempt at an explanation/assessment. Maybe I’m wrong here. 🥴
GTA6 focuses on the return to Vice city with new characters, I played these at a very age and had no idea what the story line or concept was focused on. I just liked playing it to drive a car around, my parents thought it was fine since I liked the Sims.
