Dems need to accept that this whole “see, we can still work with Republicans to get things done” schtick is part of the reason a lot of people don’t believe the entirely correct claims of corruption and authoritarianism. If those claims were true, why would you still be working with them?
Amid chaos in Washington, Minnesota is proving that Democrats and Republicans can still work together to get things done.
We just reached a bipartisan budget deal that protects investments we’ve made to improve lives and puts us in a strong financial position for years to come.
Dems crying wolf and then working with wolves obviously creates a lot of distrust.
I understand the merits and reality that we all live in this country, but Dems need to figure out the messaging on this topic.
I strongly recommend preaching why some Republicans can be worked with. IE:
"We worked with Republican Namey Namerson, who condemns this administration, on securing funding for schools in response to cuts to the Department of Education."
Boom.
Explaining* not preaching.
May 15, 2025 16:11Nah, if Republicans want to not be painted with the corrupt/authoritarian brush they should stop lining up with and supporting the corrupt authoritarians. Dems don’t need to campaign on behalf of “the good ones”, whatever that even could mean in this case
I agree. That's WHY the messaging is so important.
Were asking sane Republicans to condemn their own party. It'll help if they know we are going to stand with them.
Or we can keep it us versus them.
Are the sane Republicans who will condemn their own party in the room with us right now?
Reverse shoes. If our party went full socialist, would you condemn them for it?
I don’t think socialism is particularly analogous to what the GOP is going through right now, but if the Dems went off the rails and the GOP had better policies, I would simply stop being a Dem. Why isn’t that option available to current Republicans?
Same reason people like Bernie are the exception, not the norm.
We still are stuck in a two party system. There's no where else to go. They have the same dilemma we do when it comes to intense dislike of dems who capitulate to Trump. Where do we go?
