Federal employee gift limits are $20 per occasion with a $50 annual cap from a single source. I don't think I could buy a 747 for $20.
At my old state job you needed to pay a monthly subscription fee to access the water cooler. It's wild how far civil servants need to go out of their way to avoid the appearance of impropriety while an NYT reporter acts like *the gift of a private jet* isn't obviously corrupt.
May 12, 2025 19:39I'll note you have to completely ignorant of everything to not know this in DC. I haven't been associated with this in a good 20 years, but I remember this being a constant conversation (mostly jealousy because I was campaign staff, and therefore, not subject to any limits).
