- Once again I had to park my own car at a valet station because the valet didn't know how to drive manual; this doesn't bother me and in fact I find it amusing, but it certainly brings home that I really am from a different age of the world now.

- A cat was asleep draped across my arm, rolled off and, still asleep, is on his back with his paws in the air twitching as he dreams. An long day doing very little apart from eating, dozing and sitting in the sun has clearly driven him to exhaustion.

- Just found a really interesting historical character I want to read about but all the books about her are in French (which, given she was French, is fair enough). My French is 'okay for a holiday in Dordogne' standard, not 'read historical biography' standard.

- Someone smarter than me yesterday said that Trump's importing of white South Africans was to form part of his army and I can't get the thought out of my head.
- I'm also doom-scenario-ing Trump bringing a bunch of military to DC. Part of me thinks I'm being ridiculous but then I remember that every ridiculous scenario has happened.
