#AltCitizen Edith Nourse Rogers was a pioneer in Veterans Affairs, helping to elevate the status of women in the military, helped pass the G.I. Bill of Rights, and is considered the Angel of Walter Reed for her work on getting Vets the care they deserve when they come home.

And so much more! She is largely responsible for getting Army nurses pensions, helping to get the VA to a cabinet-level position, and was one of the first politicians to condemn Hitler’s actions. She sponsored the Women’s Army Corps, and then later the Women’s Armed Forced Act.
