- I always tell my students about my first semester of grad school. Everyone (myself included) was desperate to prove how smart we were—except one student. He’d just raise his hand and say, “I don’t know what that word means. Can you explain it?” That kind of honesty was so powerful. 1/2

- If I had a quarter for every time a professor was shocked by having go explain something…I could probably retire. Not well, but modestly.
- If you miss a single lesson, it leaves a gap unless you have a prof that recognizes and repairs it. Everyone has them don't they?

- Not sure if this tracks with your comment, but my aversion is because it blasts me with a comment at 1 AM when I tell it to turn off the bedroom light. Google Home: "ONE LIGHT OFF" "IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH?"

- As a teacher, I don’t want to be a cop. I don’t go hunting for evidence of cheating, but lots of students who cheat are not exactly master criminals.
