A large portion of society has progressed since the 1960s and the portion that didn’t progress,
is why the MAGA cult exists.
May 7, 2025 00:06I'm glad to be hanging out with some of the 20 percent!

#ResistCombine Milgram experiment with Social Dominance Orientation (SDO) and voila - a MAGAmoron!
Are you that sure that a large part of American society has progressed? 78 million people voted for a rapist scumbag over an intelligent, principled female.
I remember that
IMHO The percentage would be the same today.
And I am part 20%
Yeah, seen this before. It’s interesting but not offering anything watertight. I think a big problem in “first world” countries, a lot of people feel it doesn’t matter who they vote for. They’ll still be OK. So voting is like choosing a tablecloth. They don’t see the consequences
Yeah, there are all kinds of situational variables that play a part in whether one study could be an accurate reflection of society in general. But, I think there is a valid argument that there is a large section of the population that will follow orders if they come from “authority figures”
I thought I heard this study was based on the behavior of a bunch of undergrads and wasn't really very definitive. It is basically riding on the Lord of the Flies narrative, a book with a similar theme, but based on real events which actually showed IRL cooperation between the kids in question.
As of 2023, 57% of popul are under 44 yo which means the oldest were born in 1980. How does your theory work when 2/3 of popul weren't even born until 20 yrs after 1960?
I think your theory is a little skewed
Society as a whole is affected by generations that preceded all subsequent generations. Therefore, someone born in 1980 will inevitably be influenced to a certain degree by the generation that actually lived during the 1960s.
In conclusion: portions of society will progress based on these factors.

This is so accurate!
Law & Order: SVU did an episode on that with Robin Williams- it was outstanding.
I remember reading this in college. experiments at Yale,I think?
It's been years but wasn't one of the outliers/ resisters German..and attributed her country's terrible history and lessons learned to her ability to say NO...?
