yep - Zelensky has basically been playing this well by continuing to demonstrate Ukraine's willingness to make deals while the Russians refuse to be reasonable (even Vance is irritated at the Russians about this)
it's similar to how Trump is starting to side w/ Ukraine because Russia has been slow (read: not interested) w/ peace talks/any actual progress
It's been a surprising boon to Ukraine that its enemies in the new US administration seem to have premised their plans on such an incredibly delusional understanding of Russian intentions that it is shaken by the most minor encounters with reality.
