sometimes people ask if our game has replayability and I never know quite how to respond.
like, sure, it's a game you can replay. you can play it again. does it have 1000 hours of procedurally generated content? is it a fresh experience every time? no. but you can press 'new game' any time you like

My brother in christ I rewatch Hot Fuzz like twice a year
Yeah it's hard to know whether they are asking "can I enjoy each of your immaculately designed levels in hundreds of different ways" or "will you award me extrinsically for doing so"
i mean sure you could release a version with worse, procedurally-generated levels, all the fun kit locked behind progression (e.g. beat twenty ships to unlock the banana peel!), and a dripfeed of story, but that would... be a worse game
if the question is "can I play this for 1000 hours before getting bored" the answer should be "maybe you oughtta examine why you even want that in the first place, buddy"
“How many hours of content can I squeeze out of this product,” is just not something anyone asks when they buy a book or a movie ticket.
I think this misses the meaning of replayable. Some games are more tailor-made to wanting you to master your skills and get better at the game as you try it again, and those games are typically shorter to compensate. Some games are meant to be experienced initially and leave their mark in one go.
