- No writing done today in #5amWritersClub but that’s ok. Some days are just like that. Doesn’t exactly help my deadline anxiety but there’s always tomorrow.
- Trying to switch off from the chaos with some #drawing. Deadlines have meant I haven’t been able to pick up a pencil for months. I’m not very good but it brings me joy for a while. ✍️

- With shades of Fingersmith, @laurasrobinson.bsky.social’s latest novel, THE ART OF A LIE, is a twisty, turny masterpiece. I loved it! Out in July 🍍

- Another one of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken. London at sunset. Makes me miss living there, walking across the bridge into the city after work was always my favourite part of the day. Longing sigh.
- Reposted by Beth LewisI felt every bit of #TheRush by @bethlewis.bsky.social: the wilderness, the savagery, the loss, and the bitter determination. Immediately among my books of the year, it will stay with me for a long time. Out in June from Viper Books. Thank you so much @mirandajewess.bsky.social for the proof!
- Do I know anyone who knows anything about churches? Please, what is the big box on the wall to the left of the giant cross? I’m at a gig and not knowing is distracting me from the music. Google is, of course, no help.
- I’m having such fun with chapter titles for this book. Truly leaning into the most poetic, silly aspects of the western genre. #writing
- Playing hangman with a 5 year old really shows the inconsistency of the English language and the limitations of phonics. Todays gems included CAYC and ERPLAYNS
- Turns out all the words I wrote this morning during #5amWritersClub were not the right words and took the story in the wrong direction. Two steps forward, one back. #writing
- Still one of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken, from a trip to Canada many moons ago. Whenever it pops up on my phone, I give a longing sigh.
- Really hope you enjoy it! I may have watched a lot of Deadwood for “research”. Ahem. 💛💛💛

- This is so exciting, I love Laura’s books, can’t wait to read this one.
- Thank you so much Simon! 💛
- Eek! The Rush is making her way into the hands of the most amazing authors and this author is 😱
- David Lynch 💔 I adored his Dune when I was a kid and still do. Then as an adult I found Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive and the shift in my writer brain was profound. His imagination was on a different level. A true visionary and a huge loss.
- A Buffy re-watch is exactly what this January needs. #WelcometotheHellmouth

- Bit speechless. Karen has impeccable taste, as is shown in the Orenda list so this is just amazing. Thank you 💛💛💛
- It's been a while since I've been so utterly enthralled by a book, and I could NOT put this down. Three women navigate the Klondike gold rush in 1800s Canada in a powerful, moving, gritty story of sacrifice, loss, love and survival. @bethlewis.bsky.social #TheRush is PHENOMENAL. Out in June.
- This is me right now.
- Obligatory post to tell everybody it’s snowing: Oh hey, snow!
