- BULLITT in 35mm tonight at the Plaza Atlanta. A seminal movie for me mostly because my dad treated it as the singular rite of passage to manhood.
- Bullitt is very not great, which was my memory. Meandering and dull all too often. Some really interesting cinematography that doesn't always work but is at least trying stuff. The ending had to be Mann's inspiration for the end of Heat. The car chase holds up.

- I used to have that opinion too, but I've soften on it because otherwise the movie has a big old bummer ending. At least with the Vader seq you get a spectacular blockbuster Star Wars thrilling ending that makes big movies big.
