- Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume? Apocalypticist: God works in mysterious ways, and though days and hours, times and seasons, may not align perfectly with what the fallible human mind is capable of understanding, there is still certain hope that I can start work next Monday.
- I could sit my 8yo down and explain in simple terms habeas corpus, emoluments, due process, birth right citizenship, and separation of powers (she's done some of that in social studies), and she would be able to conclude why things are going off the rails. This isn't hard stuff. Rs just don't care.

- I've been reading Ada Palmer's "Inventing the Renaissance." It's been very good but slow going - which has both nothing and something to do with Dr. Palmer. "Nothing" because it is a good book well written. "Something" because it is (un)fortunately so well written I'm going through it with my 8yo.
- I don't know enough about Finland to be more than a befuddled tourist, but for years it has been one of my favorite places in the world. Another good reason:
