Respectfully. If I see any generative AI in a videogame even if it's just one asset, well acclaimed or just getting kickstarted, then unfortunately no, they're not getting my time or my money.
Solidarity with creatives means maintaining that integrity no matter what.
Our work is not a freeforall
tbh it’s just kind of disheartening to see people who ostensibly have good politics around labour just… use genAI
‘oh but it’s just for X’, ‘i’d pay someone but I can’t really afford it’, ‘it’s just this one time’
and in the end it really comes down to ‘I don’t actually value creative labour’

Big amen. Also why shoot yourself in the foot before it even comes out
Same! I just hate that a lot of games don't disclose it before buying especially in the indie horror game scene 😭 There's been multiple times where I got a game and realized that some pictures on the walls were genAI
Exactly. I've avoided supporting a few projects recently due to casual "it's just a placeholder" image gen use. I don't care if it is. The fact that they would use it at all for ease, and savings of funds tells me all I need to know about a project's ethical alignment :(
absolutely no shade to you bc i also do this but ive just been thinking, when yall say this does this also apply to like instagram? like do yall still use it despite meta being pretty much an ai company at this point? sorry if im meanie sauce w this comment, i just need others opinions bc mine suck
