Because I know the Internet is clamouring for it, my take on Trent:
Booing him is bullshit. Nobody booed Firmino or Milner or Ox or Origi or Gini or Lallana or Clyne or Moreno or Sturridge or any of the other players who have left on a free in the past few years.

Should he have gestured at the fans? YES! He’s been getting daily abuse for years both for being too shit at defending and also for not signing his life away to the club. Some of the spoiled, entitled portions of this fan base absolutely deserve to be told to shut the fuck up on occasion.
People can boo if they like, obviously, and when they do, they open themselves up for reactions to that. My reaction is it’s some petty, entitled bullshit. YNWA is supposed to be an ethos we believe in, not a cardboard slogan we casually discard whenever somebody doesn’t do exactly the thing we want
I legitimately do not see a logical reason Trent should be treated differently. Cos his potential value is higher? He’s a club legend who’s won it all and gave 20 years of his life to the club. Staying forever or maximising his sale price are not among his responsibilities.
If he truly wanted it, he could’ve buckled down and been a one club man and perhaps pushed his way into the club GOAT conversations down the line. He’s given that up, and he’ll get no icon status, no statue, but to get booed at anfield as the club does its victory march to a title is petty bullshit.
