I think the thing for me about all the Star Wars movies is that there’s only been one that I’ve turned off after 20 minutes and had absolutely no desire to go back and watch and that is Rise of Skywalker. It’s not an anger thing either it was just like well this isn’t worth my time.
The more I think about it the more I do believe that Rise of Skywalker really is worse than Attack of the Clones for a myriad of reasons.
Backlash to TLJ scared them into retconning every major plot point to try to win people back and all that happened was they lost the people who actually thought those plot points were or had the potential to be interesting.
I will never forgive the dorks who railed against bombs dropping (from the interior of ships that have literally always had artificial gravity) and got us a movie where the most famous line is an admission that even the writers couldn’t explain why the plot exists.
I’m very uneven on TLJ but I thought the bombing run was fantastic, very true to the idea of space battles being like the Battle of Britain and ww2 aerial battles generally. Like in the same sequence Poe does a handbrake turn in space lol
