Another NIH dementia grant cancelled because it involves trans people. I’m struck by the words “Privileged, confidential, pre-decisional”. When I worked for the fed gov’t we put that at the top of *draft* materials so they were not subject to FOIA. Why is NIH terminating grants with this language?

Mar 2, 2025 14:20Not to mention that "Confidential" at the top of a document has a very specific meaning, which would preclude this from actually being sent out.
But I imagine it's just sloppiness and someone isn't aware of proper markings, and then forgot to remove them when this became decisional.
Although maybe there's an unconscious reveal there, as information marked confidential is expected to cause damage to national security if disclosed...
