- I, uh I'm not totally sure I trust that expression 😓
- Spoke with the rental office about my situation. The rep asked me to explain any hardships I was going through, so I reluctantly opened up about Dad. There's a *possibility* that if I make all of my remaining rent payments on time, I might be able to appeal the policy and get a lease renewal.
- It's a long shot, and it wasn't in writing, but I do want to try. Even if I end up leaving in October, I'd like to be in good standing when I do. If I do get another lease offer, I'll pick the shortest one and plan on moving anyway, so it's going to happen regardless, it's just a matter of when.
- So I'm going to try to continue a good-faith dialogue with them, do the best I can, and keep planning for the worst. Thanks again to everyone who's helped thus far.❤️ I'll update further as things develop.

- I'm going through some difficult stuff. I absolutely dislike talking about it on social media or asking for help, because I have a hard time trusting in people. However, my friends have encouraged me to not go through this alone. So, let's talk about how the last few years have gone for me.

View full threadWhen I have it in me, I'll compose another thread about other concrete things folks can do to help with my long-term situation. I'm trying to deal with each thing one thing at a time, so I'm focusing on this first.
- Lastly, I need people to understand that I don't really want to chat via DM about how all of this makes me feel. (It's crushingly depressing, that sums it up.) Mostly I just want to focus on finding a way out of it. Thank you for respecting that.
- If it comes down to it, I'll see about crowdfunding or something similar, but the situation's a little more acute at the moment. I got (another) 30-day notice this morning on my door. I'm making enough to keep myself fed and the lights on, but that's about it at the moment.
- Right now the short-term goal is just avoiding eviction. I've adjusted the goal on my ko-fi accordingly: ko-fi.com/jonasdrawsst... The first, most concrete thing folks can do is either donate or commission me through my ko-fi shop. (If you can afford it. Please do not break the bank for my sake.)
- Under their new policy, renters who have enough late payments on their record cannot renew their lease anymore. I'm trying to appeal this, but I'm not expecting them to budge. I'll have to be out of here by the end of October of this year. Truthfully, I don't really want to stay here anyway.
- At the moment, I don't have a destination. I'd like to stay in WA state, mainly because I've had health issues of my own and disruptions in my coverage/meds would be Not Good. I'll relocate (again) if I must, but I also don't know how I'd pay for another cross-country move.
- The issues with Dad have been impossible to ignore as the family has expected me to take an active role in helping him. It feels like an impossible task, and it's quietly generated volumes of stress for me. He's currently under 24/7 watch in a memory care facility because keeps acting up.
- The depression and financial burden from the last few years have resulted in me being late on rent several times, and the management was very patient with me. But their patience has limits, and they recently changed their lease policy, which is now creating a new problem for me.
- The management was patient with me and let me have a new 1-bedroom apartment in the same complex, with a new lease. There have been about four or five rent increases since then. It's been difficult but I've stayed afloat through incredibly generous friends, freelance gigs, and commission work.
- A few years later I found out that my father was experiencing the first stages of dementia. I'm leaving out a lot of the details to protect his dignity, but his condition has since worsened severely, and he has demonstrated a lot of frustrating, heartbreaking, scary, sometimes violent behavior.
- In early 2021, my friend & roommate, whom the fandom knew as Chaos Coyote, died of a heart attack. He was only 36. It wasn't my fault, but I'll always be haunted by it nonetheless.

- For those of you who are still wondering about this… I DID actually try to wear it all the way until this year’s #FWA. Except…about 4 months in, it basically disintegrated. After 4 months of constant wear and tear, showers, soap, water, etc. the fabric got so weak that it forcibly detached itself!
- Obviously the solution is for me to have an NFC chip directly implanted into my wrist, that can be scanned/updated with each year’s registration as needed. I WILL become the Human Amiibo.

- As I learn coding, I understand more and more why there's this big overlap between developers and fandom. After dealing with that kind of responsibility all day/week, you kind of want to just unplug and be like "I'm a cute little critter," right? (Or a cute anime girl, or whatever.)

- I've seen reports of a handful of Bsky acc'ts getting compromised. If you're not using two-factor authentication here (and really, everywhere else you can), I *strongly* recommend it. Settings → Privacy and Security → Email 2FA

- Oh yeah, I use an auth app for every site where it's an option. I've learned the hard way that it's better to be just a *little* paranoid when it comes to this stuff.

- Try this: 1. Right-click on the taskbar and open the Task Manager 2. In Task Manager, click on the Services tab 3. Scroll through the Services until you find WTabletServicePro 4. Right-click on that and select Restart
