  In 6th grade, after watching the movie Jaws, I read the novel. I was deeply upset that in the book, Richard Dreyfuss' character died!!! And he wasn't even eaten by the titular character, which was like...just a nonsensical narrative choice

    Screw your favorite book, which was the first that upset you? A Wrinkle in Time was mine. The possessed baby scared the everloving shit out of me. My babysitter had to call my mom to come home early because I was hysterical.
