America is in decline economically, morally, and lawfully. But hey we’re good because we can deport people of color without due process, take away women’s rights and healthcare, do nothing about mass shootings, and support billionaires and big businesses. We’re great again. We’re truly fucked.

Yep, so what do we do about it? People don't read anymore, they only listen to or watch whatever output that speaks to their world view or level of intellect. So, HOW do we pull this back?

High tariffs kill jobs. Manufacturing costs explode due to higher domestic wages and will finally kill product sales. Or manufacturing will break down due to lack of low wage labour availability.

To paraphrase from “1984,” we are now living in an endless present in which Trump is always right. This notion is reinforced by a constant drumbeat of propaganda. What happened yesterday does not matter.

Just finished @anneapplebaum.bsky.social ‘s brilliant “Autocracy, Inc.,” which I highly recommend. I better understand how Trump is a poster child for transnational autocratic corruption, and how lies and confusion further autocratic aims.
