That congressional Dems are so wildly unpopular should be a wake-up call for them, but running the comparison to Harris is ridiculous. She's been out of the public eye and hasn't had the party rallying to promote and defend her, plus some Dems inevitably sour on her for losing. It's not comparable.
I truly have no idea what you’re supposed to do with the information that the imaginary scenario where Kamala is currently president is doing worse in job performance polling than the current scenario where Trump is president
May 2, 2025 17:10The real thing Hill Dems don't get in their bubble: they are pushing Bush 2008 record low approvals and even with Trump's falling fast, they're barely break-even on the generic 2026 ballot. They think all they have to do is keep their heads down and the House will flip; that's wildly overconfident.
The biggest drag on congressional Democrats is congressional Democrats. They are, in and of themselves, extremely unpopular and doing nothing to change that. Maybe thermostatic backlash pushes them over the top in spite of themselves, but it will be in spite of themselves if so.
"I hate Trump and will fight tooth and nail against that insane evil bastard" is a message that's more popular, by a lot, than "I'm a Democrat and will do normal Dem policy talking points stuff."
