Formerly of the birdsite as Apark2453, but staking my claim to the full name!
Lawyer, overanalyzer of godawful subcultures, always up to dunk on some chuds.
If you’re into all of that too… I’m sorry, but welcome friend!
- The fact that you are under zero actual threat from the Trump administration strongly suggests whatever you’re doing it aligns with their interests. Like when your reporters claim that ackshually it’s wrong to call anything Trump does corruption unless there’s an explicit quid-pro-quo.
- In @nytopinion.nytimes.com “Across the world, we’ve seen democracy in retreat,” writes A.G. Sulzberger, the publisher of The New York Times. “This anti-press playbook is now being used here in this country — and it could not come at a more difficult time for the American press.”
- “Fully and fairly” here in its unusual meaning of “with kid gloves and with framing which will always soften objective facts about his actions by framing them as mere ‘claims’ or things other people ‘say’.”
- We really need to be able to frame it being *bad* that a small number of extremely wealthy people have enormous control over government, essential services, and media without resorting to “unprecedented”. It’s not unprecedented. It sucks, and the precedent also shows it sucks.
- The idea that there is some “cinema” or “literature” which can convey meaning and allegory and thus is distinct from “movies” or “books” which obviously can’t is dumb All art can convey a message, it doesn’t have to frame itself as a think piece to contain meaning. Fun does not preclude meaningful
- A movie released two years after the Vietnam war ended (written while it was ongoing) about a technologically advanced empire using weapons which indiscriminately destroy peaceful civilians to try to root out an insurgent rebellion is only “passing reference to politics”? Y’all. Come on now.
- If you applied this “don’t tell people you think they might be XYZ” thought to any other medical or mental health condition it’s immediately recognizable as nonsense.
- Is it irrational? Yes. Is it a ridiculous feeling demonstrating profound insecurity he lacks even the most basic capacity to identify? Also yes. Also, the number doesn’t really matter, but 27 partners in 4 years works out to less than one partner a month which just… isn’t that weird.
- Wild how quickly this dude went from "the screenshot saying account has been suspended is proof she was suspended which is proof what she did was bad or else Bluesky wouldn't have suspended her" to "well... I don't know he was suspended despite the screenshot saying account has been suspended"
