- the thing (I think) people have trouble with is that a 50% reduction followed by a 100% increase returns you to where you started. you need to understand that percents work *on a base* and the base changes.

- Volcanoes are really good tests of our knowledge of climate change. When Pinatubo erupted in 1991, Hansen et al. published a prediction of what would happen to the climate. It looks pretty close to Zeke's plot and also pretty accurately matched reality. www.giss.nasa.gov/pubs/docs/19...

- Some scientists will leave and a lot more would leave if they could, but the scientific endeavor is much larger than it was the last time something like this happened, Nazi Germany in the 1930s. There's really no other country that has the scientific infrastructure to take many U.S. scientists.
