Coates: First of all, some of these are Trump appointees
Jennings: I don’t care
Coates: I care when I let you speak and you overtalk me
I get it, CNN. He gets you ratings. Other than that he adds nothing to the discussion of any topic.
Why not try having someone who actually adds to the conversation. I know I would be more interested in that format. I might even tune in.
Come on CNN. Help Americans understand the headlines.

Valid point, but attention is what drives viewers to watch a program or podcast.
It's the number of viewers or clicks that drives the ratings, and it's the ratings that determine how much a show gets paid by advertisers.
So we are both saying the same thing in the end.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Their ratings are down, it's not working. Social media reactions don't = good ratings.
Without Mr. Jennings getting tag teamed by everyone else on the panel ratings would be even worse.
There is a part of the viewing public that enjoys watching that occur.
It's the same format perfected by Faux News. 'The 5' etc.
Sadly it works.
Except it doesn't. Actual ratings are down, no one knows what they would be without him. I see hundreds of posts saying they won't watch with Scott (he doesn't deserve Mr. Jennings) on, I have not seen ONE saying they watch to see Scott.
I disagree with the premise that "no one knows what they would be without him"
Broadcast programs know exactly what every personality adds or subtracts from the viewing demographic. Market research firms exist solely to do just that. Netflix, Hulu, etc. provide weekly info to them.
They know.
