- *Publication day* The Chinese Journal of Comparative Law has published my article on finfuencers! This is part of my ongoing research so all comments are welcome. Available open access here: academic.oup.com/cjcl/article...
- Not quite 'secret ministries' but this is scary enough
- The latest from @markpmancini.bsky.social and yours truly, in the National Post, on the preposterous Henry VIII clause in BC's just-introduced Economci Stabilization Bill. We didn't write the headline, but it sums things up nicely. The clause is an outrage against democracy and needs to go.
- Very interesting! There will be no 5th edition of the ASX Corporate Governance Code. www.asx.com.au/content/dam/... Sometimes, no news is good news.

View full threadMy submission is on SSRN papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
- Mine and other submissions are also available on the ASX page: www.asx.com.au/about/regula...
- In my submission re the proposed 5th edition, I had argued for a more nuanced understanding of what sort of diversity is required on the board. If diversity disclosures are to be required, it should be more broad ranging than an exclusive focus on demographics, I had said.
- Publication day! My article is now out in the Bond Law Review (open access) blr.scholasticahq.com

View full threadVery interesting, thank you for the engagement! You're of course spot-on about the value of reputational damage, I had limited space in the blog (but working on a journal piece based on it). This wasn't entirely clear tho: 'What this means is that soft-law can be just as coercive as non-compliance'
- Thanks and and I look forward to reading your journal piece! That's good feedback for when I develop this into a longer piece myself thanks! In short, companies don't really have the choice of not complying because of reputational sanctions.
- In which I draw on @paolosandro.bsky.social's UKCLA post ukconstitutionallaw.org/2025/02/12/p...
- Agree with this thread. On corporate short-termism re diversity see www.law.georgetown.edu/gender-journ...
- This stuff is relevant in the Trump era too. Short-term reactions to social media trends was bad then and bad now (this time it is driven by the other bubble on social media gaining prominence in the Trump era)
- New from me: blog.nus.edu.sg/lawresearch/...
- New post - a bit of a tour from India and South Korea, to NZ and Australia corporatelawacademic.wordpress.com/2025/01/28/p...
- Absence has definitely boosted creativity. "To continue their work without steady supplies of imported advanced chips, Chinese AI developers have shared their work with each other and experimented with new approaches to the technology..."
- "This has resulted in AI models that require far less computing power than before. It also means that they cost a lot less than previously thought possible, which has the potential to upend the industry." Good stuff overall. www.bbc.com/news/article...
- It has been fantastic to work with Aparajita Kaul on this draft book chapter in an edited collection (thanks Victoria Barnes, et. al. for inviting us!). The draft is available here - comments/feedback welcome! papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
- Here's a paper I wrote about 6 years ago advocating for financial incentives for whistleblowers in Australia. Sharing it in light of current debates in the UK papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

- This. Also more regulation is not the answer to everything.
- That is the first thing you need to know about the under-16s social media ban. It can’t be done. The ban has the same level of feasibility as switching off Australia’s internet from midnight to 6am daily to ensure everyone gets a good night’s sleep. www.themandarin.com.au/281972-digit...
