- If you're going to get into the business of contemplating flatly unconstitutional changes to US law, perhaps you should also project what will happen to your profit margins if the president silences the free press
- @JeffPassan tweeted It’s always great when @DanWetzel writes about baseball. And he hits the nail on the head with this. t.co/mlynkDhZ7M 💬 @DanWetzel The Hall of Fame is a museum. History is complicated. Banning Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe never made sense. t.co/eN1LNanFKZ

- Or let Clemens in!
- Was just reminded of Sh*t My Dad Says, an era of the Internet where you could get a TV show because you made up quotes you attributed to your dad really is the stuff of a montage early in a Scorsese movie
- And the same guy also gave us the Harley Quinn cartoon, which is better than 99% of the stuff on TV
- Pete Rose raped children and today Rob Manfred paved the way for him to receive the highest honor Major League Baseball can bestow.

- He was the easy MVP of Game 7
- Voters: Can we have more moderate cultural or policy positions? Tim Walz: Best I can do is talk about football with podcasters
- Yes, clearly the lesson of the last decade of American politics is that moderation is the path to political power. Who can forget when the GOP responded to its defeat in 2008 by staking out moderating positions, pledging to work with Obama, and nominating moderates whenever possible?
- I feel like the current round of political books is warping this discussion beyond recognition. While it’s certainly not easy to run a primary campaign against an incumbent and Biden (of course) preferred not to be primaried, it was not Biden but ALL THE OTHER DEMOCRATS who decided not to test him.
- Sadly, @dplouffe.bsky.social is whitewashing a bad candidate and a bad campaign. Biden SHOULD have gotten out early, but NOT because people would like @kamalaharris.com better with 3 extra weeks. It’s because the Dem Party deserved a primary to pick the best candidate, as @amyklobuchar.com said.

View full threadI'm not sure it's fair to assume that a prolonged campaign to replace Biden would have produced a better result. It's hard to imagine any outcome that would have put a party in a better position than it was on on August 1 2024, I can't recall an "incumbent" campaign with more energy and unity
- People assume that losing to Trump is evidence of some massive unforced error, but the guy has defeated every opponent he's faced in a national race except Biden since 2016. Maybe this is just what our country has become, and we should worry about how to fix THAT first
- Former President Joe Biden’s physical deterioration was severe enough in the second half of his presidency that his aides privately discussed putting him in a wheelchair for his second term, according to a new book from CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson.

- The story was entirely about physical limitations and your response was to describe Biden as a "corpse" both explicitly and implicitly. It's great if that was not your intention. but that's definitely what you said
- The answer to the woo problem is something that nobody's going to like - pushing people back to boring, mainstream religion instead of having them create their own version of Christian Science without the God parts through the Internet
- LOL I started reading this as a fellow Phish fan and assumed it was about "egging the woo," really took a turn on me
