May 13, 2025 19:13I used to think it was a good idea to spend time with recruiters because you never know when you’ll need them. I don’t think that anymore. Mostly now I just delete and that feels much better.
I've gotten this scenario:
RECRUITER EMAILING ME COLD: I have a job that would be a perfect fit for you! *describes job*
ME (thinking it sounds awfully familiar): Is this for X company?
RECRUITER: Yes! Does that mean you're interested?
ME: No thanks. That's for the junior position on my same team.
Classic case of nobody these days wants to work.
I mean, not even going to give Topeka, Kansas a chance. I see how it is.
A lot of the cold emails I get are for a totally different job that I’m not really qualified for or interested in, but still for less money in a much smaller city.
"what's the salary and location?" "why don't we talk" ffs
The last one who messaged me on LinkedIn said he'd call me
Then said each day for three days he'd tried to call but I wasn't available
My phone number is not on linkedin
