- The 1st amendment applies to—belongs to—everyone, not just professional journalists. I’m glad that Rumeysa Ozturk has been freed, but it’s unconscionable to have someone imprisoned for 6 weeks for the “crime” of writing an op-ed. That’s it, end of story. A fundamental betrayal of the constitution.

- Interesting thought experiment: What if, instead of slapping an embargo on a tiny, poor country like Cuba, with a negligible trading relationship with the US, we imposed one on a top-3 trading partner, with an economy deeply integrated w/ our own? And also that country happened to be a superpower?
