- My abiding memory of the Scarborugh WHS - apart from making a beeline to it for the latest Target novelisation or Who VHS - was a copy of Richardson's 'Clarissa' in the Penguin Classics edition which was there for years and years and got progressively tattier as people inspected the massive thing.
- Same here. For teenagers in most provincial towns WHSmith/John Menzies was where you went for *everything*. Singles, magazines, books, your yearly school geometry set, Xmas shopping, the lot. It's like when Grange Hill was axed.
