- I suspect that this is true, and I also think it's one reason people choose the risk of higher-priced schools and the debt load that comes with it: they think they'll get a payout in prestige and connections. And when they don't? Ooops.

- In my lifetime, the people I've worked most closely with who have had the greatest impact politically have tended to be older women, going back to when I was a 13-year-old baby feminist working with ERA Illinois. The women in my local group were kind, funny, smart, and absolutely took no shit.
