The open fighting between India and Pakistan looks as bad as it's been in a long long time. India claiming to have hit nine targets inside Pakistan, Pakistan claiming to have downed two jets and hit an airbase. Every possibility things get worse from here.
Nuclear war CERTAINLY is NOT INEVITABLE at this stage. But obviously whenever you have cross border missile strikes and bombings between two nuclear powers it is not unreasonable to brace for the worst.
May 6, 2025 21:51The fighting in Poonch is extremely intense already. Heavy shelling and airstrikes, bursts of gunfire.

There has never been an open conflict between two nuclear powers. The world is charting new territory as we speak.
Luckily we have a crack team of professionals at the helm during these dangerous times.
i was born in a tube in the 1980s for a nuclear war and got a degree in nuclear war and now everyone tells me it's 'never gonna happen' and its 'evil', fuck off
Everyday it feels more and more like our “generation” is going to eat a huge metaphorical shit sandwich before anything gets better.
Their last major war in 1971 was frighteningly intense. Lost around 140 aircraft between them, 15 ships, 8500-13,000 killed, as many as 37,000 wounded, 95,000 captured, all in 13 days.
That was a conventional war, fought with 1950s and 60s weaponry.
Not my favorite thing to need to be reassured about!
Nuclear war described as "NOT INEVITABLE" isn't as reassuring as you might think.
Didn’t Vance just go there? Can we imagine him saying to Modi, “Now is the time to attack”? Certainly would shift attention away from trump’s destroying the global economy this year.
why is that everyone's IMMEDIATE go-to, tho?
Haven't these two been sending troops in to club each other with sticks to prevent this kind of escalation for years
Cancel all US H1B Indian and Pakistani visas and send the skilled upper class home, and I suspect the politics of starting war might change
forget nukes, have they considered....tariffs?
Yeah i mean I don't think Pakistan and India will throw nukes at each other(i hope), but war with each other seem likely at this momment
"War is not inevitable"
nuclear war is not inevitable
Bracing for the worst being like.. Idk. Going for a walk. Petting my cats more often. Like not much to do from out here but
So, should we be looking for our helmets just in case?
If only breakfast congac was available 😮💨
I’m in my mid-50’s. When I was growing up this was always where I was afraid a nuclear war would start. I knew a bit of the history between the countries. But other than that I couldn’t tell you why I thought that.
