Is AI a good thing?
May 6, 2025 11:11Literally, the best and only good thing I will say about AI is that small data set bots can handle niche applications well.
AI can spot cancer on a scan and can sort shrimp by its size by the pound, but ask it to do a search engine's job, and it starts hallucinating
my reaction seeing people use AI:
does it allow people to communicate over long distances
- no
does it help humans share data they could not otherwise share - no
does it help people build skills and human knowledge
- no
is it new tech? - no, it's been around for 10+years
/s clearly it's the next internet! (says marketing)
Humanity is overrated
All hail Emperor LOLMEMESFROG 3.0
*camera pulls back to reveal the ruins of civilization, overgrown with plant life*
I chastised a BlueSky user for always using AI art. She told me she uses it because it's fast and cheap.
i feel like this whole thing will fade away as the push for AI is stopped not by companies but by the lack of peoples caring for it
The BBC and ITN searching desparately for "balance"...
Never will be....
Somewhere I mentioned that the ancient Persian notion of a red or glowing face signified divine royal blood and that evolved into the Christian notion of a halo. In trying to find a reference at least a Google AI summary gave terminology. (maybe google now limits the hits/page to encourage AI use)
The Google AI summary is somewhat good when you search
Shahnameh glowing face
It says Farr (Divine Glory) is related to Zoroastrian Khvarenah which appears to be mumbo jumbo that doesn't address the glowing face.
