- 2 things struck me here: 1. Non-Jewish students who are ok w Israel are ostracized by their peers. How effective this social contagion is. 2. Columbia & others hired Arab professors in the 1990s to get better perspectives. To this day many never promote dialogue & peace. Why is it the default?
- "Trump’s autocratic presence unbalances every debate. But just because his administration is exploiting the issue of anti-Semitism does not mean that anti-Jewish activism is not an issue at Columbia."—Franklin Foer in @theatlantic.com www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
- In Indonesia: 1. Jakarta Lit Fest 24 had the cry "No Zionist among us". No Jewish writer, targets were EU writers & VIPs. No local writer spoke up of course. 2. An Islamic org had built a brand of dialogue with rabbis & govs of Israel for decades. It's cancelled by Oct 23, still hated today.
