Two recent editions of the slimmed down Litchfield County Times weekly Connecticut newspaper headlines the closure of Torrington’s volunteer fire department after 68 years, “due to a shortage of volunteers.” The other headline was Watertown landmark Joey’s Army Navy store closing after 82 years.
