'Neurospicy' is both peak Guardian and a new low in meaningful descriptions of neurodevelopmental disorders.
'I consider the diagnosis a gift' is the new 'Prizes for all'.
Mar 16, 2025 01:36Really dislike seeing the disorder that has caused chaos in my life framed as a cool fun thing to have.
I'm glad / relieved you saw my point. My daughter is autistic, and it devastates her. She loathes the difficulties it presents almost as much as she loathes when idiots describe autism as a 'superpower'.
I’m glad there’s less stigma but the pendulum has swung too far the other way. These are DISorders. They make life harder. Sure, there are positive traits & by all means celebrate them, but marketing neurodivergence as a gift is so offensive. It’s a gift I’d’ve returned in a heartbeat if I could’ve!
