- Travelling as a tall white man in rural Java, I have lost count of how many people have asked to have a photograph with us. It seems appropriate to be the focus of an occidental gaze after centuries of orientalism.
- According to our guide at Borobudur Temple, the reason the reliefs on the left are yellow (compared those on the right) was because the 19th C Dutch photographer Isidore van Kinsbergen needed more contrast for his photos. So he painted them all yellow. Gotta love colonial mindsets.
- The Swakopmund Museum is really excellent. Lots of great Sci and Tech objects and great displays about the local communities, archaeological, geology and history. If you are ever here, well worth the visit
- Staying in a little cottage in Prince Albert, South Africa- and they have box brownies and an NPG poster. They must have known I was coming. Oh, and also a lovely back garden

- Starting second day of TaNC #unlockingcollections Conference with @timboon.bsky.social giving an overview of the Congruence Engine project. Have had the joy of working with this project over the last two years. Hopefully just the start to building connected heritage collections in the UK
- One of the key refrains from the first day of the TaNC conference is that if you can deal with humanities data you can deal with any form of data. Because humanities data is very complex. Good point to keep in mind
