- Over the years I've been contacted by multiple journalists in Mississippi who were interested in doing a piece on Hattiesburg-based Spartan Mosquito and its tubes of sugar water and yeast. Every single one has dropped the story. Anyone know of a brave reporter there?
- Now that my new bird bath is getting popular with the locals, I think I might need a wildlife camera. Ideally one that can capture nighttime visitors. Would be grateful for suggestions. #birds
- Spotted lanternfly nymphs have started to appear in my yard over the past few days. The species arrived in PA in 2014 and has spread to CT, DE, GA, IL, IN, KY, MD, MA, MI, NJ, NY, NC, OH, RI, TN, VA, & WV. Dead adults have been found in OR, CA, UT, & WI. Report sightings on iNaturalist! 🌿 #insects
- Just got another ID on this observation from 2016 so I'm going to post and gloat. Yes, this is an earthworm, NOT a Brahminy blind snake as the park nature guide had insisted. He even laughed at me for confusing them. 🌿 #snake #earthworm #worm #hawaii #inaturalist www.inaturalist.org/observations...
- I recently learned that those bioplastic forks that proudly say "compostable" only break down if you get the temperature up to 190°F (88°C). That's approximately 30° higher than peak temperatures of home composts. Marketing scam.
