Analogies are often cute but rarely true.
You are right.
Steven Bradbury trained hard to get selected to go to the Olympics.
The analogy fails again.

Everyone’s got an opinion.
Opinions are indeed like arse holes, in that everyone has one.
However, some opinions are based on data, knowledge, experience, research etc & some are not.
Some opinions are based on data...cherry picked, flawed, biased, limited data and so on.
Do you have evidence?
Science is not a belief.
Science is based on observations, experiments, research etc to form theories based on evidence.
Theories evolve & change over time, as new technologies & new evidence arises.
Don't recall saying anything about "belief".
Jim,
You may have mentioned ‘opinions’ did you not?
Opinions and beliefs are not the same. Opinions are conclusions based on evidence. That evidence could be flawed, of course.
A belief is "a conviction based on cultural or personal faith, morality, or values.".
Some opinions are based on the substance of things hoped for & the evidence of things not seen.
By definition, that is simply not true. "An opinion is a judgement based on facts." Of course, those facts may be limited, out of context or false.
Perhaps you're confusing opinion with "faith"
Hebrews 11:1
"Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see."
Some opinions seemed to be based on faith or belief, rather than evidence.
Particularly concerning
#climatechange &
#vaccinesI think you mean some personal convictions seem to be based on faith or belief.
In that case we agree.
Thanks for the chat.
Goodnight.
