I think this happens because it’s easy to use intentionally ambiguous notation (the ÷ symbol plus parentheses) and generate “engagement” as people argue in the replies
Like 90% of the math problems I see on social media are PEMDAS problems and I promise you PEMDAS is one of the least interesting topics in math.
