  Replying to Stephen Bush
  Surely the answer to "we could fill migrant labour gap by doing X" [eg training] is to do the X first. If that does indeed address the problem, companies won't need to recruit overseas and visas will fall anyway. Seems risky to do reverse (restrict visas, hope that X fills gap), in case it doesn't.

    I've said this a million times, but I'll say it again: it is truly striking how many Democratic politicians, pundits, and commentators have internalized the idea that the right shapes public opinion and it is the job of the left to respond to it.
